The ScottoCMD is a 40-key ortholinear keyboard with a 6.25u spacebar, 4 dedicated function keys and 0.96" 128x64 OLED display. Getting the spacebar to work took many prototypes as 3D printed plates aren’t the best for stabilizers in terms of tolerances. The way I solved this was by using a Drop Holy Panda for the spacebar which has the side effect of giving it a very nice pop. For the other keys, I use NK Silk Yellow switches with Pimp My Keyboard DSA keycaps and some tan ones I had from a different set. The artisans on the function row are some of my own custom ones.

When looking at the back of the board, the columns (blue) go to the following pins on the controller from right to left: TX0, RX1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, A3, A2, A1
Then the rows (red) go from top to bottom: A0, 15, 14, 16, 10
In addition to the matrix, you will also need to wire up the OLED display.
- VCC: VCC
- GND: Any GND pin
- SDA: Pin 2
- SCK: Pin 3
Keep in mind, you can connect anywhere on the column or row to the controller, it doesn't need to just be at the end.
You can find the firmware files on the qmk_firmware repository or you can compile them online using the QMK Configurator. However, QMK is often slow at getting changes merged and because of that you can find the most up-to-date firmware on the ScottoKeebs Github repository. Also available are the pre-compiled firmware files that you can simply download (right click, save as) and flash using QMK Toolbox:
After flashing vial.hex, you should load the vial.vil configuration file within the Vial application to ensure everything functions as expected.
