ScottoFrog PCB Macropad

ScottoFrog PCB Macropad

The ScottoFrog (PCB Edition) is a 20-key single handed keyboard or macropad depending on which firmware you choose to run. It's powered by a single RP2040 Zero and supports Vial for GUI customization. My version of the board uses Kailh Pale Blue clicky switches along with my custom ScottoFrog keycaps. The keyboard works by using lots of combos, for example, pressing the top right key will give you F by default but if you press space at the same time, you'll get tab. It's a bit tricky at first but just like anything, the more you do it, the better you get.

Getting One

If you’re interested in getting one assembled, contact me and we can discuss the components and other details for a commissioned build. If you want to build it yourself, you'll need the following:

You can find the case files here.

Firmware

You can find the most up-to-date firmware on the ScottoKeebs Github repository. Also available are the pre-compiled firmware files that you can simply download (right click, save as) and flash by dragging and dropping to the controller.

default.uf2 - Default QMK keymap.
vial.uf2 - Default QMK keymap with Vial configurator support.
right.uf2 - Right-handed QMK keymap.
default.uf2 - Left-handed QMK keymap.

The ScottoFrog (PCB Edition) features bootmagic that will allow you to hold the top left key when plugging it in to enter bootloader mode. You can also enter bootloader at any time by pressing shift, symbol, and space at the exact same time.

Keymap

The keymap for the ScottoFrog works on the concept of combos meaning you press 2 keys at the same time to get different functions. For example, pressing the top right F will input F, however, if you press F and Space at the exact same time, you'll get Tab. This concept applies across all layers of the board and the graphics below should help you understand the features further. Please do note that these are firmware specific depending on if you chose the left or right layout.
