While we would love to offer these completely free, it isn’t sustainable. Instead, we offer them at a significantly reduced cost to keep them as accessible as possible.
Can I customize anything?
Yes, but only within a limited range, such as standard color options. These builds are designed with affordability in mind, so we typically use cost-effective parts like Outemu switches. If you’re looking for something more specific, that can usually be accommodated at an additional cost.
Can you design something else?
Yes, we can go beyond our standard builds and design something more tailored to your needs. For more complex projects, there may be added costs to cover design time and any prototypes that need to be made and shipped. The ScottoMacrodeck for example was a fully customized build build for a single user in mind.
What kind of adaptions can you make?
It depends on your needs. For example, users with visual impairments may benefit from high-contrast color schemes (such as yellow on black), while those with limited strength or mobility may prefer lighter switches that require less force to press. We can also adjust layouts, spacing, and key placement to better fit how you interact with the keyboard. If you’re not sure what would help, we can work through it together.
Do I need to "prove" my need?
We may require a doctor’s note or similar documentation confirming the disability you’re describing. This isn’t something we like asking for, but it helps keep the program sustainable and ensures these builds go to people who genuinely need them. A simple note confirming your condition is all that’s needed.
